eValid V7 Additions & Changes
eValid V7 includes many changes and additions.

• DOM Validation & Syncronization Feature
  You can now validate & synchronize selected elements from any part of a page, and also have Adaptive Playback locate them even if they have moved around on the page.

• Enhanced Adaptive Playback
  New information details recorded during certain user-interaction commands have enhanced eValid's ability to play back reliably even when there are changes in the underlying web page.

• LoadTest Scenario Editor
  The new LoadTest Scenario Editor gives you the ability to conveniently edit and update LoadTest scenarios scripts.

• Revised Pricing
  To simplify licensing and provide the greatest flexibility in selecting eValid features, we have made a number of revisions to the V7 Features and Retail Prices. Considerable savings are available with the V7 Bundle Price List. In most cases eValid V7 is available without charge to customers who have a current V6 maintenance subscription. There may be some some adjustments in case the new license needs to include PAGEMAP feature, or if the old configuration used a BASE (upgrade to STAN) or ADV (upgrade to PROF). Environment and Configuration
Here is a summary of the eValid required environment and configuration.

• Required OS/Browser
  eValid V7 relies on certain properties of the IE DLLs that are only available in IE Ver. 5.50, IE V6, or IE V7. Similarly, certain features of the technology require use of Windows operating system features that are only present in Windows 2000/SP4, Windows XP, or Windows Vista. At launch eValid will provide an advisory notice (popup) in case the minimum required operating capabilities are not present.

• Supported Platforms
  eValid V7 is supported on Windows 2000/XP/Vista.

• Prior Windows OSs
  eValid does not formally support Windows 95, 98, ME, or Windows 2003 Server. In some cases scripts that work perfectly well on the supported platforms may have problems if you are running Windows 98 or ME (even when including the latest SP's) and will very likely have severe problems or complete failure, if you are running Windows 95.

• Required OS
  eValid is a free-standing Windows application -- it is not a wrapper or a proxy and does not require any other browser to be operating simultaneously. However, eValid's operation is standardized to interoperate correctly with a co-installed Internet Explorer (IE) browser. We recommend that you have IE 6 or IE 7 installed on your machine. V7 Technical Differences
There are a few technical differences between eValid V6 and eValid V7. These differences may require revalidation or recreation of scripts.

• Some eValid V7 commands record more information that the corresponding command as recorded in V6. The primary difference is the addition of element IDs and other data. That information isused by eValid to make the Adaptive Playback feature more powerful
  Impact: Some scripts may have to be re-recorded to take advantage of the new capability.

• In eValid V7 there are new commands that handle absolute locations differently than they are handled in V6. In V7, with these commands, xy coordinates are ALL measured from the browser window, not from the application window. This results in more reliable recordings because the offsets are now consistent across parent/child window choices. In addition, this will assure that scripts involving absolute coordinates will be compatible on playback with non-IE based browsers such as Netscape and FireFox.
  Impact: All existing V6 scripts will run normally using the old commands. To use the new, more resilient commands you likely will have to re-record the actions or edit the scripts to create new xy coordinate values that work with the new commands.

• In eValid V7 some commands in V6 scripts that used escape sequences may not work properly due to internal changes in handling of special characters such as " (double-quote).
  Impact: Some scripts may have to be re-recorded to take advantage of the new method for handling escape characters.
