eValid V6 Additions & Changes
eValid Version 6 (V6) includes many changes and additions.

• International Edition
  The eValid International Edition supports multiple byte character sets, localization, and the full range of keyboards. This version is 100% Unicode compliant.

• DOM Validation Feature
  You can now validate selected elements from any part of a page, and also have Adaptive Playback locate them even if they have moved around on the page.

• Netscape/FireFox Playback
  eValid scripts can play back on Netscape/FireFox based systems on either Linux/Unix or Windows platforms using the new NSPLAY Feature. (Note: The NSPLAY capability, with a limited subset of eValid commands, is expected to be available early in 2006).

• LoadTest Scenario Editor
  The new LoadTest Scenario Editor gives you the ability to conveniently edit and update LoadTest scenarios scripts.

• Revised Pricing
  To simplify licensing and provide the greatest flexibility in selecting eValid features, we have made revisions to the V6 Suggested Feature Retail Price List. There are considerable savings with the V6 Bundle Price List. In most cases evalid V6 is available without charge to customers who have a current V5 maintenance subscription. There may be some some adjustments in case the new license needs to include PAGEMAP feature, or if the old configuration used a BASE (upgrade to STAN) or ADV (upgrade to PROF). • Additional Changes & Additions
  Here is a summary of other changes and additions that apply to eValid V6.
  • PageMap Feature Enhancements
    The PageMap feature has a new look and feel, and supports full DOM validation.
  • JavaScript (JScript) Event Handling Enhanced
    eValid now supports every form of scripting event possible inside the browser.
  • Recording Startup Dialog
    The recording startup dialog has been enhanced so you have the highest chance of creating a realistic playback script the first time you make a recording with incredible ease.
  • Random Wait Time Feature
    These commands enhance the ability of eValid to simulate an actual user by letting you script in a variable wait time.
  • Run Time Maximum Feature
    To prevent runaway playbacks due to page failures, eValid now has a maximum run time feature that cuts off playback activity even when there are broken or unavailable pages.
  • Save Message Feature
    The SaveMessage command was added to simplify monitoring applications, and to give you the capability to ensure better records of tests during playback.
  • Authenticate User Feature
    There is a new "authenticate user" feature to handle user authentication processes automatically.
  • Improved Modal Dialog Support
    All eValid modal dialog commands now understand the window ID so you can have any kind of modal dialog playback you wish.

Environment and Configuration
Here is a summary of the eValid required environment and configuration.

• Required OS/Browser
  eValid V6 relies on certain properties of the IE DLLs that are only available in IE Ver. 5.50 or IE Ver. 6.0+. Similarly, certain features of the technology require use of Windows operating system features that are only present in Windows NT 4.0 SP6a, Windows 2000/SP4, or Windows XP (SP2 preferred). At launch eValid will provide an advisory notice in case the minimum required operating capabilities are not present.

• Supported Platforms eValid V6 is supported on Windows 2000/XP and platforms.

  The NSPLAY playback-only feature (when released) runs on Netscape V8 or later and/or FireFox V1.5 or later.

• Prior Windows Versions
  eValid does not formally support Windows 95, 98 or ME. In some cases scripts that work perfectly well on the supported platforms may have problems if you are running Windows 98 or ME (even when including the latest SP's) and will very likely have severe problems or complete failure, if you are running Windows 95.

• Required OS
  Even though eValid is a free-standing application (it does not require any other browser to be operating simultaneously), eValid's operation is based on and is standardized to interoperate correctly with a co-installed Internet Explorer (IE) browser. We highly recommend that you have IE 5.50, IE 6.0, IE 7.0 or later on your machine (Download Internet Explorer).

Version 6 Technical Differences
There are some technical differences between V5 and V6 that merit attention. In some rare cases, the differences may require revalidation or recreation of scripts.

• In eValid V6 there are new commands that handle absolute locations differently than they are handled in V5. In V6, with these commands, xy coordinates are ALL measured from the browser window, not from the application window. This results in more reliable recordings because the offsets are now consistent across parent/child window choices. In addition, this will assure that scripts involving absolute coordinates will be compatible on playback with non-IE based browsers such as Netscape and FireFox.
  Impact: All existing V5 scripts will run normally using the old commands. To use the new, more resilient commands you likely will have to re-record the actions or edit the scripts to create new xy coordinate values that work with the new commands.

• In eValid V6 some commands in V5 scripts that used escape sequences may not work properly due to internal changes in handling of special characters such as " (double-quote).
  Impact: Some scripts may have to be re-recorded to take advantage of the new method for handling escape characters.
