How to Download TCAT C/C++

This page provides instructions on how to download the executables for TCAT C/C++ Ver. 3.0 of TCAT C/C++ for Windows 98/NT/2000 [DEMO Version] or Ver. 3.0 of TCAT C/C++ for Windows 98/NT/2000 [FULL Version].

Part 1 describes special properties of the version you are about to download.

Part 2 explains how to automatically download a copy via FTP.

Part 3 explains how to install the product once you have downloaded it.

Part 4 explains how to manually download a copy via FTP.

Part 5 gives information about some limitations and/or suggestions about proper use of the product.

Part 6 helps you obtain a license key using the PRODUCT LICENSE KEY REQUEST FORM.


PART 1: About the Version You are About to Download.

This version of TCAT C/C++ is intended for use on Windows 98/NT/2000 and is pre-configured to support VC 6.0.

If you have a different C compiler please contact technical support at support@soft.com for advice on how to configure this version appropriately.


PART 2: Automatic FTP Download.

To automatically download the TCAT C/C++ for Windows product simply click below on the version you want (be careful to choose the right version for the operating system you are using):

If you are using Netscape Communicator, for example, you can do this by updating the Email address using the sequence: Edit > Preferences > Mail & Groups> Identity > Email Address.

Now go to PART 3 for installation instructions.


PART 3: Product Installation Instructions.

Each downloaded file is a self-extracting ZIP file.

Simply execute the downloaded file in a temporary directory.

Then double-click on "setup.exe" in that directory to install the TCAT C/C++ product.


PART 4: Manual FTP Download:

If you are manually downloading the product follow these instructions:

(1) ftp to ftp.soft.com.

(2) Login as anonymous.

(3) When prompted for a password, please type your E-mail address.

(4) Go to the following areas depending on the version of the product that you want (be careful to note the variations in the operating system versions):

TCAT C/C++ for Windows 98/NT2000: pub/windows/coverage/i386-winNT-4.x

(5) Set binary mode type by using the command bin.

(6) Transfer the file demotcatC30.exe (DEMO version for Windows 98/NT/2000) or tcatC30.exe (FULL version for Windows 98/NT/2000).

(7) Now go to PART 3 for installation instructions.


PART 5: Limitations and Hints for Use:

RECOMMENDATION: Make sure all return statements are valid.

REASON: During instrumentation of application' s source code TestWork's ic9 instrumentor acts as a front-end to the compiler and does a full scan/parse of your supplied source code. As a result it needs to know what it is clearly what appears in return statements. Any incorrectly defined or undefined returns for C or C++ functions will result in invalid instrumentation. Should you notice your that instrumented file.i contains incorrect SegHit() placements, please check to make sure that your #includes's are found on the path and are valid.

PART 6: Obtain A License Key:

To obtain a license key for your product simply use the PRODUCT LICENSE KEY REQUEST FORM.
