This page provides instructions on how to download the executables for Ver. 2.6 of CAPBAK for Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, and Windows NT (4.x).

Part 1 describes special properties of the version you are about to download.

Part 2 explains how to install the product once you have downloaded it.

PART 1: About the Version You are About to Download.

• These versions of CAPBAK for Windows feature native 32-bit (for Windows NT and 95) and 16-bit (for Windows 3.1x) executables and have completely revised installation procedures.
• CAPBAK includes several updates to the basic capture playback engine, including:
  • Automatic Output Synchronization (AOS).
  • Full integration of the OCR engine.
  • Easy GUI and script-level interaction with SMARTS.
  • Expanded "C" internal function list and external support library.
  • OCR engine fully pre-trained on all of the relevant MSW typefonts.

PART 2: Automatic FTP Download.

To provide you better overall support in case you have any difficulties, please make sure you use your correct, current Email address.

If you are using Netscape, for example, you can do this by updating the Email address using "Options > Mail & News Preferences > Identity > Email Address".

Now go to PART 3 for installation instructions.

PART 3: Product Installation Instructions.

Each downloaded file is a self-extracting ZIP file.

Simply execute the two downloaded files in separate temporary directories.

Then double-click on "setup.exe" in that directory to install the CAPBAK for Windows 95, NT and 3.1x product.

You can un-install the CAPBAK for Windows 95, NT and 3.1x product at any time by double-clicking on the "uninstallshield" icon (for Windows 3.1x and Windows NT 3.x) or by using Add/Remove Programs (for Windows 95 and NT 4.0).

PART 4: Manual FTP Download:

If you are manually downloading the product you follow these instructions:

(1) ftp to "ftp.soft.com".

(2) Login as "anonymous".

(3) When prompted for a password, please type your E-mail address.

(4) Go to the following areas depending on the version of the product that you want (Make sure you choose the version for the operating system you are using):

(5) Set binary mode type the command "bin".

(6) Transfer the files "capbak26.exe" (for Windows 3.1x) or "capbak26.exe" (for Windows 95 and NT) using the command "get".

(7) Now go to PART 3 for installation instructions.
